On Saturday, Feb. 22, 32 members of the Brownwood High School choir competed in UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, held at Howard Payne University.

Twenty-four of those who participated received a “1” rating, or “Superior” rating on their solos.

The following nine BHS freshman received “Superior” ratings on their solos: Amy Hicks, Chasity Woodcock, Natlie Sliger, Jenny Wagner, Jack Robinson, Mariah Solis, Alexis Gil, Sharlene Munoz, and Maycee Wilson.

In addition, the following 15 freshman through senior-level students, not only received a “Superior” rating on their solos, but also qualified to continue on to the State Solo and Ensemble Contest to be held in Austin in May: Wyatt Burleson (Freshman), Katie Griffin (Freshman), Mary McIver (Freshman), Caleb Bostick (Sophomore), McKenna McDonald (Sophomore), Albert Nguyen (Sophomore), Sadie Perez (Sophomore), Chevy Robertson (Sophomore), Shannon McNeill (Junior), Kalin Young (Junior), Trey Fawcett (Senior), Haley Lawson (Senior), Sierra Mendez (Senior), Kolton Robertson (Senior), and Lindsey Williams (Senior).

The BHS A Cappella Men's Quartet performance also received a “Superior” rating and qualified to compete at the state level. Members of the qualifying A Cappella Men's Quartet are: Trey Fawcett (Tenor 1, Senior), Kolton Robertson (Tenor 2, Senior) Caleb Bostick (Bass 1, Sophomore), and Cade Patteson (Bass 2, Sophomore).
