With four of their District 8-3A rivals on hand, the Brownwood Lady Lions placed ninth overall during the girls portion of the Bluebonnet Invitational Monday at the Brownwood Country Club.

The Lady Lions carded a 456 composite score, which left them behind tournament champion Copperas Cove (363), Gatesville (380), San Angelo Central (386), Lampasas (399), San Saba (412), Burnet (419), Brady (422) and Liberty Hill (451). Trailing Brownwood were Comanche (482), Wall (504) and Coleman (553).

Audrey McKillip posted the best round of the day for the Lady Lions with a 107 trailed by Sierra Mendez with a 112, Jessica Barrera with a 113, Krista Fragua with a 124 and Kylee McCoy with a 130.

The Lady Lions were without Sydney Roberts Monday — who won the last two tournaments in which she entered — as she is preparing for a regional preview tournament in Lubbock.

Gatesville’s Chelsey Tobin fired the low round of the day with a 78 while Burnet’s Lauren Beckwith and Megan Jennings both carded 86s. Beckwith won a one-hole playoff for second place.

Bangs’ Lakyn Dent (116) and MacKenzie Calloway (119) both competed as medalists Monday as did Goldthwaite’s Rachel Long (91), Savanna Esse (117) and Blythe Jackson (130).

The boys portion of the Bluebonnet Invitational will be held today at the Brownwood Country Club.
