In Brownwood you really can live the good life at a great price and reasonable pace. We think it’s a wonderful place to live and work, raise a family, or even retire to and we’ve got room for you, too. With the world wide web, phones, and faxes, a lot of folks can live the “hometown: life literally and still work in any state or country. The pace is a little slower. In Brownwood, you can usually drop by you bank; go to the grocery store for a few items for dinner, and pick up laundry within 20 or 30 minutes or less. We love the pace, quality of life, and the emphasis on family and spirit. It feels like home to us but don’t take our word for it.

“New comers Rryan and Mandy Locker, with busy lives as attorneys in Houston, decided the big city and fast pace was not for them. Ryan had a “heart to heart” talk with Mandy and decided it was time for a change.

The very next day Ryan, 26 saw a posting for an opening for assistant county attorney in Brown County. “I think of this as a providential matter, “ Locker said. “It was a quality of life over quantity of income decision.” “I love it,” Locker said of his new job. “I’m glad to be in the courtroom again and I look forward to getting up every morning.” Mandy is an oil and gas transaction attorney and Ryan said, ”it’s possible she’ll be able to do long distance work from Brownwood for her firm.”

Locker’s parents are Dr. and Cynthia Locker of Brownwood. He graduated from High School in Germany where his father was stationed as an Air Force Physician.

Ryan entered Texas A&M with the intention of becoming a fourth-generation doctor but topics such as political science and political theory captured his passion. Ryan attended law school at the University of Texas where he met Mandy, also a law school student.

Ryan said, “ I grew up spending summers in Brownwood and I have wonderful memories of hunting and fishing here.” “Brownwood,” he said, ‘is a hometown I’ve never lived in but I already know ‘it feels like home’.”
