George Hullum and Elsie Womack were married Oct. 15, 1960, in Odessa, Texas. The couple met at a church social at the sand hills in Monohans. George and Elsie will celebrate their anniversary on an autumn trip to New England.
George owned an automotive service business in Brownwood before his career as an educator with Comanche school district, where he retired in 2004. George is an alumnus of Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos where he earned a teaching degree. He enjoys restoring antique cars and raising cattle in his retirement.
Elsie made their home and raised their family in Baytown, Odessa, Brownwood and finally Early. She and George are members of Austin Avenue Church of Christ. She finds great pleasure in her grandchildren and is an avid Texas Rangers fan.
A Golden Wedding Anniversary Reception is planned at the Texas 4-H Conference Center at Lake Brownwood on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. all guests are welcome. Honoring their parents, hosts are the Hullum children, Jack and Liz Compton of Dublin, Ohio and Rick and Laura Hullum of Early, Texas. George and Elsie also have three grandchildren, Kayla Hullum of San Angelo, Kyle Compton of Ohio, and Holli Hullum of Early.
