EARLY — The filing period for the May 6 municipal and school board elections ended Friday, and for the first time in his 12 years as Early’s mayor, Bob Mangrum faces opposition in his bid for re-election.
    Additionally in Early, four candidates are seeking two council seats.
    Magnum, who was first elected mayor in 2005, faces challengers Sean Fulton and Frankie Wilder.
    The seats of City Council incumbents Joel Johnson and Janice Bush are open. Johnson, Travis Eoff, Noah Williams and Amy Beam have filed for the two seats.
    In Bangs, incumbent Mayor Eric Bishop faces challenger Carrol Wells, who has previously served as the town’s mayor. There are no other contested races for the Bangs City Council.
    Additional races include the Blanket school board.    For place 1, incumbent Steve Schulze faces challenger Angela Dozier.
    For place 2, incumbent Mary Wilson is challenged by Janis Kinked.
    The City of Blanket will not hold an election because there are no contested races.
    Early voting begins April 24 and ends May 2.
