A semitrailer carrying 40,000 pounds of dog food tipped over near the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and Texoma Parkway Thursday morning.
Sherman Police received a call at 11:48 a.m. of a semitrailer truck on its side on the east side of U.S. Highway 75 at Texoma Parkway. Police Sgt. Sam Boyle said the truck appeared to have been attempting a U-turn onto the northbound service road when it occurred.
After speaking with officials for the transportation company, Knight Transportation, Boyle said the trailer may have not been properly loaded, contributing to the wreck. The truck also appeared to have blown a tire on the passenger side, but Boyle was uncertain if this contributed to the wreck.
Crews worked to unload more than 40,000 pounds of dog food from the trailer so the vehicle could be brought upright. The driver of the truck was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved in the wreck, Boyle said.
