The hamburger supper is Latch Key’s primary fundraiser. Everyone involved in the program will be assisting with making it a success.
The staff and children have been working on decorations since February, and board members have been working hard to get sponsors so that 100 percent of the proceeds go back to the program. Board members and staff members will also be volunteering their time to help serve the night of the event.
Parents with children in the program will be bringing baked goods for the bake sale, as well.
This fundraiser gives the community the opportunity to come and see what the program is about, who is served and what Latch Key actually does with the children in its care.
Latch Key is open to working families in the Brownwood ISD that have children 4 years old in pre-k through sixth grade that qualify for free or reduced lunches in the school system. There is no charge for the families that are enrolled in the program.
Latch Key provides a snack for the children and helps with homework so that parents have a little bit of time with their children that is not school related after picking them up at 5:30 p.m.
Once homework is completed the staff will have activities planned for the children to keep them entertained and safe until parents get off work and pick them up.
All staff members come from Howard Payne University through the workstudy program. The staff must pass fingerprint background checks to help ensure the safety of our community’s children.
