Students from Victory Life Academy recently participated in the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) state competition in Waco. VLA received a fourth place overall award in the art portion of the contest. Twenty-one schools took part in the art competition. Individual results are as follows: Communication Design – Meagan Rangel, fifth place; Zoe Brown, 6th place and Keely Guerrero, 7th place; Painting – Lexi Mason, honorable mention; Mixed Media – Meagan Rangel, 4th place and Shalom Brown, honorable mention; Black and White Photography – Mackenzie Beale, 6th place and Kayleigh Ray, 7th place; Color Photography – Zoe Brown, 2nd place; Sculpture/Relief – Shalom Brown, 4th place and Lexi Mason, honorable mention; Poetry and Ceramics – Lexi Mason, fifth and sixth place; Senior Portfolio – Meagan Rangel, 8th place; Lexi Mason, honorable mention; Onsite Drawing – Honorable Mention, Meagan Rangel and Seek and Sketch – Meagan Rangel, 6th place. With 29 schools competing in the academic division, VLA earned a sixth place finish. Individual results are as follows: Prose Interpretation – Shalom Brown, second place; Solo Acting – Monica Valencia, first place and Mackenzie Beale, third place; Literary Criticism – Shalom Brown, fourth place; Duet Acting – Britt Piper and Jayce Thedford, third place and Duet Acting – Isaiah Whetstone and Cody Simmons, fifth place. Others who competed in the academic competition were Kerith Simmons, Jordan Castleberry, Zoe Brown, Mary Laubhan, Rachel Acker and Hannah Williams.
