Students from the Brownwood High School Band competed at the Region 7 UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contest at Tarleton State University on Tuesday, April 4.
The students earned a first division from each of the six contest judges. Combined with the band’s first division rating at the UIL marching competition earlier in the year, the BHS Band was presented with the UIL Sweepstakes Award.
Contest judges praised the band in their comments from the contest performance.
“I really enjoyed hearing you guys perform today,” stated Jim Alexander from Alvarado ISD. “Great work by students and teachers. Congratulations.”
Denise Stitzel from Mansfield ISD commented, “A very nice musical performance. Keep up the great work. I enjoyed it!”
“Very impressive band! Congratulations on a musical performance,” wrote Melissa Danforth from Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD.
“Congratulations to the high school band for an outstanding job,” said BHS Band Director David Lambert. “The Mighty Maroon Lion Band will perform on May 15th at the Brownwood Band Boosters Dinner and Concert. Please come out and support your hometown band.”
