The Early Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum for the upcoming mayoral and city council races from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ranger College.
Three mayoral candidates and four city council candidates are expected to attend the event. Incumbent Early mayor Dr. Robert Mangrum is facing challenges from Sean Fulton and Frankie Wilder, while incumbent councilman Joel Johnson is running with Travis Eoff, Noah Williams and Amy Beam for two at large council seats. Current council member Janice Bush is not seeking another term.
The event is free and open to the public, and Early residents are encouraged to attend. KOXE news director Rick Phelps will be moderating the event.
“We’re going to start off with all the candidates in both the races giving a background on themselves,” Phelps said. “Their education, where they’ve worked, what their interests are, talk about their families a little bit. And then the questions, obviously, will hit on the things that you would think of like, what would you like to see change within the city, what do you see as positive, what are things that you see that need to be fixed.”
Phelps said attendees can submit anonymous questions as they enter the event. As long as they’re not “personally insulting or attacking” the candidates, Phelps said, he will ask them.
Early’s Ranger College campus is located inside Heartland Mall at 300 Early Blvd, Suite 105.
