On Tuesday, April 25, Brownwood High School A Cappella Choir will be performing with HPU University Singers and Concert Choir, thanks to the vision of Dr. Chris Rosborough, Assistant Professor of Music for Howard Payne University and HPU Director of Choral Activities, along with Mrs. Cindy Franklin, BHS Choral Director.

HPU University Singers is a non-audition choir, made up of HPU students and community members from Brownwood, Early and the surrounding areas.

HPU Concert Choir is an auditioned performance choral ensemble.

Dr. Rosborough issued an invitation earlier this year to the BHS A Cappella Choir to join Howard Payne University's choral ensembles in performing Gabriel Faure's Requiem. This concert will be a culmination of work for the semester, following the BHS A Cappella Choir earning Sweepstakes at UIL on April 11th.

“This has been a great opportunity for A Cappella Choir to be able to learn challenging music and perform with more mature voices, as well as to work with a vocal instructor and choral conductor of Dr. Rosborough’s caliber,” said Mrs. Franklin. “I’ve enjoyed sharing this music with the students and letting them be involved in something that few high school choirs get to experience.”

In addition to working on the music during class, A Cappella Choir has been joining the HPU University Singers in their regular rehearsals on Monday evenings at HPU.

The Concert will be held at First Baptist Church Brownwood and is free to the public.
