On March 11-12 several of local youth bowlers from Academy Lanes competed in the 2017 Pepsi Youth State Championship tournament in Grand Prairie.

Youth bowlers from all over the state participate in this tournament and Academy Lanes had three top 10 finishers.

Zoe Phillips, 11, finished in first place in the girls U12 handicap division and fifth in the U12 girls scratch division. Trevor Phillips, 4, finished in fourth place in the boys U8 handicap division. Shaelee Kunert, 7, finished in 10th place in the girls U8 scratch division.

Bowlers earn college scholarship money from the tournament that is placed in a SMART fund with USBC to be used at the college of their choice. Not only do our youth bowlers have fun bowling but they are earning money for college by participating in league and tournaments.
