The Central Counties Training Coalition will host a suicide prevention training on Friday, June 16 at the Family Services Center in Brownwood.

In a morning and afternoon session, licensed counselors will discuss mental health awareness and the warning signs of suicide. The cost is $25 to attend one session or $40 for both, with the morning “Ethics” session beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the “SafeTALK” session at 1:30 p.m.

CEUs are available to attendees thanks to Rivercrest Hospital.

Jerry Leslie and Jonathan Harvey will serve as the trainers for the two sessions. According to an event brochure, “A suicide happens somewhere in the world every 40 seconds. With proper training and healthy discussion about suicide and mental illness, the associated stigma and challenge can be met head-on by community members, professionals and family members.”

For more information or to register for the training, contact Michelle Wells at 325-643-2557. The Family Services Center is located at 901 Ave. B in Brownwood.
