The Department of Public Safety arrested nine Brown County residents Tuesday on indictments related to registration requirements of sex offenders.
District Attorney Micheal Murray said the indictments pertain to sex offenders’ social media accounts that did not meet registration requirements imposed as conditions of probation or parole.
Murray estimated a total of 12 to 15 indictments were returned in connection with the social media registration.
The DPS has investigators who check on sex offender registration, Murray said.  “This was a check on social media,” Murray said. “Sex offenders have to register social media accounts. That’s what this batch happens to be.”
The charges listed on the jail log were “sex offenders duty to register” or “failure to comply with sex offenders registration.”
Those arrested, according to Brown County Jail records, were: Carol Byerly, 56, Early; David Cox, 53, Brownwood; Bryan Hosch, 34, Brownwood; KC Huff, 41, Early; Kirby Johnson, 64, May; Wesley Rush, 52, Bangs; Eugene Sanchez, 65, Brownwood; Raymond Tabor, 44, Early; Donald Young, 59, Brownwood.
