EARLY — Funeral services for James D. “Jimmy” Horrell, 78, of Rising Star, will be 4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Heartland Funeral Home.
    The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m.. Friday at the funeral home.
    He died June 16, 2017 in a local nursing home.
    He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was married to Dorothy Marie Willis. He was a truck driver for Syvalls Tanks in Odessa, Texas, E.L. Farmer and was later a contractor helper. 
    Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Marie Willis Horrell of Rising Star, Texas; three sons, James Horrell Jr. of Victoria, Texas,  John Garison of Abilene, Texas, and Martin Horrell of Rising Star, Texas; daughter, Carol Horrell Larkin and husband Arthur of Blanket, Texas; brother, Jerry E. Horrell of Abilene, Texas; sister, Judy C. Lee and husband James of Ellabell, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and nephew.
