RISING STAR – Jerry Lynn Allen, 60, of Rising Star, formerly of Clyde, died Saturday, June 17, 2017 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services were held at  10 a.m.  Tuesday, June 20, 2017  at Cherry Heights Baptist Church in Clyde with Pastor Max Evans officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from  6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Monday  at the funeral home.

Jerry was born April 2, 1957 in Ranger to Fred Harvey Allen and Mary Wood Allen Evans. He graduated from Clyde High School and married Shirley Dee Sims in Clyde on February 25, 1978. They moved to Rising Star from Clyde in 2001. While in Clyde he was a volunteer for the Clyde Fire Department, a member of the Clyde City Council as well as a member of the Clyde Masonic Lodge and the Kiwanas Club. Jerry was a ranch hand for many years and was a Baptist.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Allen; two daughters, Mindy Allen Johnson and husband Tom Edd of Cross Plains and Ashley Dee Watkins and husband Jeremiah of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother David Allen and wife Kelly of Abilene and four grandchildren, Trace and Haylee Johnson and Olivia and June Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
