A woman who checked her boyfriend’s tablet because she believed he was cheating on her reported finding child pornography, leading to the the man’s arrest on charges on possession of child pornography and aggravated sexual assault of a child, Early police said.
Early officers and Brown County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Terrance Harold Hess, 32, at a Shamrock Shores home at Lake Brownwood Wednesday morning, police said.
Hess was booked into the Brown County Jail with bonds totaling $100,000.
Police obtained a warrant and arrested Hess at the home of a friend where he’d been staying, Early Police Chief David Mercer said.
According to an email from Early police:
Early officers began an investigation on June 30 after a woman reported finding the child pornography on her boyfriend’s tablet.
The woman began worrying about her own 4-year-old daughter, knowing her boyfriend had been alone with the girl while the woman worked. She took her daughter to the emergency room for an examination, which revealed a sexual assault had occurred.
Early officer Michelle Sheedy briefly examined the tablet to confirm the content, and the tablet was sealed to prevent
further access until examined by experts.
Police obtained a search warrant to examine the tablet, and the Secret Service conducted a forensic examination to reveal the content and how much child pornography the device contained.
