One of the teams in Thursday’s Operation METHodical narcotics roundup seized 82 grams of methamphetamine from a Brownwood home, Sheriff Vance Hill said Friday.
    The team, consisting of Brownwood police, sheriff’s deputies and state troopers, went to a home in the 900 block of Avenue D to serve a sealed on indictment on Terry Bessent, 34 — one of 57 people named in the operation.
    After arresting Beset on the indictment, officers had probable cause to obtain a search warrant and found the methamphetamine, Hill said. said.
    Bessent was arrested on the indictment for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and on a new identical charge, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, Brown County Jail records state.
    Twelve of the 57 defendants named in the indictments remained at large as of Friday morning, Hill said.
    “That operation (Thursday) was a huge success,” Hill said of the roundup, which was the culmination of a 20-month undercover drug investigation by the sheriff’s office and Brownwood and Early police departments.
    More than 80 officers from multiple agencies began serving the warrants Thursday morning.
    “Our number-one priority is to get the drugs out of the community and keep them out of our children’s hands,” Hill said.
