A Brownwood man is free on $75,000 bond after being arrested Friday on 10 counts of forgery, Brown County Jail records state.
    Damon Beard, 44, was arrested in connection with multiple fraudulent checks passed at a Brownwood business, a complaint filed in Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Doug Hurt’s office states.
    According to the complaint, filed by Brownwood police detective Kim Holland:
    Officer Jared Spohn responded to the business on June 30 on a forgery call. An employee alleged Beard had passed multiple fraudulent checks. The employee followed Beard home and noted the address and license plate number of Beard’s Chevrolet Tahoe.
    The employee alleged Beard would purchase pre-paid debit cards with fraudulent checks. The checks ranged from $150 to $347, with a total of $2,254.
    Holland has investigated multiple forgery cases with Beard as the suspect, Holland’s complaint states.
