With a full day remaining of early voting in the Nov. 7 constitutional amendment and Ranger College annexation election, Brown County has nearly quadrupled the November 2015 early vote total.
The total as of late Thursday afternoon was 3,114 ballots. A total of 825 ballots were cast in the November 2015 constitutional election.
Early voting ends at 7 p.m. Friday.
Seven constitutional amendments are on the ballot, but unless you’ve lived in a cave for the past five months, you know what’s drawing the voters.
“Ranger College — that’s what’s bringing them out,” Brown County Elections Administrator Karen Opiela said.
Many voters who’ve come to the early voting location at the courthouse annexation building have commented that they’re showing up to vote in the Ranger College issue, Opiela said.
An additional 75 ballots have been received by mail, Opiela said. She said the early vote total with this election will likely be a record for a constitutional amendment election.
