EARLY — Leslie Rone did not receive a friendly welcome when she entered the home of former friends Sunday in Early.
Police arrested Rone, 34, of Brownwood, on a charge of burglary of a habitation after the homeowners’ daughter arrived home in the 1300 block of Sherry Lane and found Rone inside, police said.
According to an email from Early police:
The daughter knew Rone as a former family friend. The girl’s parents called 9-1-1 while they were en route to their home, and officers detained Rone.
Rone told police she was just driving by when she saw a black pickup and a man breaking into the house. Rone said she she pursued the suspect out the back door, but there was no evidence to support the story.
The evidence, however, did support Rone’s entry to the house on her own.
A small amount of money and medication was determined to be missing from the house.
Rone had locked her car with possible evidence inside, and the car was impounded pending the execution of a search warrant.
