A Brownwood man who was arrested twice in 17 days on DWI charges was indicted earlier this month in connection with both arrests.
The November session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned two indictments against James Robinson Jr., according to records in District Clerk Cheryl Jones’ office. Robinson’s age is listed as 61 in Brown County Jail records but is listed as 57 in court records.
Robinson was arrested on May 17 on a felony DWI charge and released on bond the same day, jail and court records show. Robinson was arrested on June 3 on another felony DWI charge and released six days later on bond.
Robinson was convicted of DWI in 2001 in 2007, the indictment alleges. Both convictions were in Coleman County. Robinson was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2010 in Brown County, according to the indictment.
In an unrelated case involving alleged drunken driving, the grand jury returned an intoxication assault indictment against Matthew Gipson, 22, in connection with a four-vehicle accident in Early.
Police said Gipson was the driver of a vehicle that caused chain reaction rear-end collisions at the intersection of Early Boulevard and C.C. Woodson on May 20. Former Early City Councilman David Gray was injured in the accident and airlifted to a hospital, police said earlier.
