It’s time to “dust off that old clarinet or trombone and get back in the band.”
That’s the message from Corey Ash, director of bands at Howard Payne University as he announced the upcoming rehearsals for the Central Texas Community Concert Band’s spring 2018 concert. The concert’s date has not been set but it is usually held in early May, Ash said.
Rehearsals begin Jan. 16 in the Davidson Music Complex and will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
The band, which is comprised of area musicians, boasted about 50 musicians in the 2017 season including two father-daughter combinations. Each year, the band typically consists of newcomers and veterans, teen-aged musicians and seasoned citizen musicians from a variety of communities.
Ash and guest conductors from the area will be the community band’s director.
“There’s nothing like it, and you now have the opportunity,” Ash said. “Everyone is invited to be a part of this exciting group.
“From high school students to those who are older but still have the desire to play, all are invited to come and be a part of this wonderful community project. Don’t miss this opportunity.”
