A reckless driver call led to the a traffic stop by a sheriff’s deputy and the seizure of 50 grams of methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana, sheriff’s officials said.
    Kent Shelburne, 39, of San Angelo, a passenger n the car, was booked Saturday into the Brown County Jail on charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance over 4 grams under 200 grams in a drug free zone, jail records state.
    Martin Serrato, 58, of Austin, the driver, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving with an invalid license.
    Deputy Toby Mathis made a traffic stop in the 900 block of Pecan Street after responding to the reckless driver report. Mathis smelled marijuana and conducted a probable cause search, and found marijuana and methamphetamine.

Tuesday
    • Trespass warning — Dollar General Store on Highway 279 in Brownwood. Deputy received information that a male was inside the store shoplifting. A report was made.

Monday
    • Animal cruelty — County Road 346. Deputy was dispatched on an animal cruelty complaint and wrote a report.
    • Class C assault — Elm Oak Drive, Brownwood. Investigation determined that two brothers restrained their brother-in-law after he became belligerent and aggressive with other family members while he was intoxicated. The brother-in-law claimed the brothers had assaulted him but did not want to press charges. No one was injured.

Sunday
    • Narcotics — Deputy was informed Cody Tilley was at Brownwood Regional Medical Center with an active warrant for forgery from Cedar Park. After placing Tilley in custody, deputy found a plastic wrapper with trace amounts of methamphetamine. Tilley, 30, of Brownwood, war arrested on the forgery warrant and possession of a controlled substance.

Saturday
    •Traffic stop — 1300 block of Belle Plain. Deputy was informed by narcotics investigator that a black Mustang was traveling with registration tags out of date. After traffic stop, a clear baggie containing marijuana was observed. The driver tried to hide the marijuana. Prince Espinosa, 35, of Brady, was arrested for possession of marijuana and evidence tampering.
    
Friday, Dec. 22
    • Assault — Campbell Trail, Early, complainant said a man threatened and harassed her and pointed a gun at her during an argument.
    • Assault — County Road 550, complainant said her boyfriend, assaulted her by dragging her to the ground, impeded her breath, and stuck his knee into her right ribs. Deputies were unable to contact suspect. Complainant was taken to the Ark.
