A Brownwood man was indicted on an allegation that he conspired to sell 627 grams — a pound and a half — of methamphetamine that was seized in the largest meth bust in Brownwood’s history.    The February session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Jaime Arredondo, 40, for engaging in organized criminal activity, 35th District Court records show.
    Arredondo is accused of participating with seven others to sell the methamphetamine. Brownwood and Early police and sheriff’s deputies seized the methamphetamine after after executing a search warrant  at a home in the 500 block of Seventh Street in January 2017.
    The methamphetamine was packaged for distribution, police said, and evidence related to the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics was also seized.
    In other indictments:
    • Over a 12-day span in 2017, 38-year-old Joseph Brandt of Brownwood is accused by indictment of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from Walmart last year.
    The grand jury returned an aggregated theft indictment against Brandt accusing him of stealing items valued at more than $2,500 and less than $30,000 beginning May 25 and ending June 5, according to 35th District Court records.
    The items included televisions, DVD and blue-ray players, a feed trap, a power washer, a vacuum cleaner, gaming headsets and en electric winch.
    • Matthew Keefe, 22, of Brownwood, and Jesse Rodriguez, 22, of Abilene, were indicted for burglary of a building and graffiti in connection with a night of vandalism in Early in June 2017.
    Several mobile homes in the Northland Drive mobile home park and several vehicles were spray-painted, police said earlier. Additionally, a screen at the Regal Movie Theater at the Heartland Mall was spray-painted after the suspects walked around and found an unlocked door, police said.
