Kaitlyn Davis, daughter of Melody and Cody Smith and Brian Davis, has been elected as the student President of Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE). Kaitlyn was voted in by her peers throughout the state of Texas at the Teach Tomorrow Summit held in Conroe on Feb. 15-17.
Kailtyn’s elected position has her attending the National Conference for Educators Rising held in Orlando, Florida as well as attending FCSTAT teachers conference, the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and planning the 2019 Teach Tomorrow Summit.
“What a wonderful experience for this young lady. I cannot express how happy I am for her,” said Mitzi Cockerham, Teacher Leader of Brownwood High School’s TAFE chapter. “Kaitlyn has always been a ‘behind the scenes’ kind of leader, but now she can shine for the state to see. Being elected is based on public speaking, questions asked in front of her peers and a campaign rally. She impressed me with her speech and the manner in which she answered the questions about the TAFE organization. She showed such leadership and pride for this organization. I know Kaitlyn will go far in life. I am truly blessed to have her as a student in this program.”
