A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy took a report Saturday from a woman who said she was contacted by her supposed cousin, who asked her to send money to get him out of jail.
    The woman sent $1,500 in the form of Walmart Visa cards, a report by deputy Marvin Simpson states.
    The woman later contacted her cousin, who told her he was never arrested.
    In an unrelated scam, Simpson responded Friday to a Monaghan Drive residence, where a woman she said $660 to a man for two French bulldog puppies. The woman later discovered it was a it was a scam.

Thursday, March 15
    • Found property — Sgt. Pete Bastardo was dispatched to the intersection of Limerick  and Ardee, where he collected items that had been found and placed them in evidence lockers.

Friday, March 16
    • Burglary of building — deputy Stephen Thompson was dispatched to a building on US 183 N., where two complainants said an unknown person(s) had entered the building and stolen items from inside.
    • Assault — deputies Simpson and Thompson responded to County Road 381, where a woman said a man choked her and took her phone during a child custody exchange. Deputies unsuccessfully attempted to contact the suspect, who had fled.
    • Burglary of habitation — Simpson made contact with a woman on Ardee Drive who reported a burglary had occurred Feb. 17. The woman said she learned about the burglary from her nephew.
    • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — Deputies responded to a home on Rosemary Lane on a report of an unwanted person. Deputies learned a man fired a shot into the ground while arguing with his brother.
    • Jail assault — Deputy Simpson responded to the Brown County Jail for an inmate versus inmate assault. A female inmate with minor injuries said she wanted to press charges against another inmate.
 
Saturday, March 17
    • Hit and run — Deputy Simpson responded to West U.S. Highway 67 on a report of a hit and run with the victim following. Simpson made a traffic stop on County Road 521 near County Road 197 on a 2014KIA Optima. The driver, Viola Hutchins, 21, of Bangs, was arrested on a DWI charge.
    • Terroristic threat — Deputy Jose Rodriguez was dispatched to Fourth Street in Blanket, where he took a report on a terroristic threat.
    
Sunday, March 18
    • Criminal trespass warning — Deputy Shade Tidwell issued a criminal trespass waring to a woman for property on CR 177 on behalf of the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
    • Theft — Cpl. Joe Thomas was dispatched to North Beacon Lane, where a man said someone had stolen two real estate signs from his property.
