A beer bottle assault, criminal mischief at a Brownwood home and animal complaints were among recent offenses involving the Brownwood Police Department.
According to police reports:
• Officer Ian Baker was dispatched Sunday to a home in the 1200 block of Vincent about an assault that occurred at a bar the night before.
A woman said she was grabbed from behind and assaulted by another female. The suspect was escorted out of the bar and the victim left soon after. Once outside, the victim was struck with a beer bottle that caused a deep laceration above her right eye.
An investigation continues.
• Baker was dispatched Sunday to a residence in the 500 block of Seventh, where a woman said a known suspect went throughout her home while she was away.
The suspect threw paint in rooms and onto property and damaged items including windows, doors, microwave and air conditioner thermostat. The woman found a small burn pit in the back yard that contained several items of her clothing.
The suspect also made several threats to harm the woman and her family members.
• Animal control officer Donald Plate was dispatched Friday to the 4300 block of Fairway. A woman said she was walking her Boston terrier mix dog on the road when a pit bull mix came from the adjoining yard and attacked her dog, causing severe lacerations to the victim dog who was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
Plate was able to contact the attacking dog’s owner and issue a citation.
• Plate was dispatched Friday to the area of Avenue K and Seventh on an animal cruelty compliant. A male pit bull was seen tied to a car tire and dragging the tire behind him in the middle of Avenue K. A female pit bull was seen tied to a dumbbell-type weight and pulling it behind her.
The dogs were taken to the animal shelter, and the dogs’ owner was issued citations and told how to reclaim the animals.
