A former employee of the Brownwood 3M plant has been indicted on allegations she phoned in two bomb threats against the plant last year.

The April session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned two indictments of terroristic threat against Gwendolyn Hays, 51, of Brownwood, documents in Brown County District Clerk Cheryl Jones’ office state.

Hays is accused in the indictments of threatening to detonate an explosive device “with intent to place the public or a substantial group of the public in fear of serious bodily injury” on May 29 and May 30.

Hays was a temporary employee at 3M when the threats were made and was terminated, Sheriff Vance Hill said earlier.

The plant was evacuated after both threats and no explosive devices were found, 3M and sheriff’s officials said earlier.
Two of the four phone calls made in the bomb threats came from a cell phone that was stolen from another employee’s locker, Hill said.
Investigators believed the cell phone was taken by Hays, who was working at the time the cell phone came up missing, and individuals who know Hays identified her voice on a phone recording, Hill said earlier.
Hill gave the chronology of phone calls in the bomb threats, in which the caller indicated “there was a bomb in the 3M plant that was going to blow the whole building up,” Hill said.
