EARLY — Early police arrested a man Friday on charges of injury to a child and assault family violence — occlusion after an investigation into alleged child abuse that began earlier in the week.

Police identified the man as Ricky James Delarosa, 37.

According to an email from Early police:

Early police were notified earlier in the week of a 2-year-old child with bruises all over his body. The investigation began but not enough information was known about the incident at the time.

CPS was notified and an interview with the Child Advocacy Center was set up for Friday morning. After the interview, detective Brandon Macmillan gained enough evidence from the child and the mother (31-year-old female victim) to present a complaint to the justice of the peace for a warrant.

The information included facts that the 2-year-old child had been repeatedly assaulted numerous times over the past several weeks. The mother had also been repeatedly assaulted and strangled where the suspect held his hands around the victim’s neck until she began to pass out.

Delarosa remained jailed as of late Friday afternoon, and no bond had been set.
