Brown County commissioners will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. Monday on the county’s proposed $21.76 million budget for the 2018-’19 fiscal year and will then consider approving the budget.

The budget is 7.3 percent larger than the current budget and contains pay raises for county employees and elected officials. Justices of the peace and constables will receive pay raises of $5,000 a year, and elected officials and all other county employees will receive pay raises of $2,000 a year, according to the budget.

The property tax rate is 61.47 cents per $100 valuation, which is higher than the effective rate — the rate that would be required to bring in the same revenue as the current year.

The tax rate will generate a 3.7 percent increase in revenue.
