A community blood drive by United Blood Services, provider of blood products for Brownwood Regional Medical Center, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. The event is sponsored by the Brownwood Rotary Club.
The bloodmobile will be stationed at 1200 Austin Ave. at the offices of Dr. Kent Comolli and Dr. Randall Ethridge, who will offer free eye examinations for all donors. Donors will also receive free T-shirts. Certificates and shirts will distribute after the blood donation process is complete.
“The Brownwood Rotary, under the leadership of Laura Terhune, continues to play a major role in bringing needed services to the community and organizing blood drives for United Blood Services,” Gloria Johns, donor recruitment representative for United Blood Services, said.
Appointments may be made by calling Terhune, Rotary club blood drive chair, at 646-9535 on Monday.
Johns said United Blood Services, based in San Angelo, is the community blood provider for 11 area counties serving 10 hospitals.
“Those suffering chronic illnesses, a variety of cancers, trauma, burns, surgery and accident victims all benefit directly from the generosity of donors,” Johns said.
Its network is one of the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit blood service organizations, and is a founding members of America’s Blood Centers and the Association of Blood Banks.
