Bulletin Staff Report
Two Brownwood elementary schools that have received state and national honors will be recognized by the board of trustees of the Brownwood Independent School District today.
Both Northwest Elementary and Woodland Heights Elementary have been named Honor Roll Schools by the Texas Business and Education Coalition. Meanwhile, Woodland Heights Elementary is one of only six campuses in Texas nominated for the national Title I Distinguished School Award. School administrators will present information about those honors during the general communications segment of the board meeting which will begin at 6:30 p.m. today at the central office, 2707 Southside Dr.
The meeting is open to the public.
In other business, the board will receive reports on current construction under way in the district as well as a financial report on the bond issue of 2005 which is funding much of that work.
New business before the board listed on the agenda includes consideration of a resolution designating Extension Service agents in Brown County as adjunct faculty members, appointment of an individual to represent the Brownwood ISD on the board of the Brown County Appraisal District, approval of fund-raisers in schools for the coming year, approval of proposed library vendors for the coming year and personnel needs (possible closed session).
The superintendent will report on the Texas Association of School Boards Policy Update 81, the extracurricular code of conduct, scheduling of trustee elections to meet joint elections requirements, roofing projects and finances.
