Approval of a wireless network infrastructure for the high school and middle school campuses is one of several items on the agenda for a meeting of the board of trustees of the Brownwood Independent School District at 6:30 p.m. today.

Superintendent Dr. Reece Blincoe said last week that the proposed network will be a first step toward a program he is pursuing that would provide a laptop computer for each secondary school student in the district. Blincoe outlined how other school districts in Texas and the United States have handled similar programs for the board last spring.

Other items on the agenda for tonightís October meeting include approval of an appointment to the Brown County Appraisal District Board, approval of campus and district plans, and personnel needs of the district.

If required, the latter item could call for a closed session of the board, but any action would take place after trustees reconvene in open meeting.

The superintendentís report will include financial information, a security audit report, a prelimiary AYP report, an update on school district construction and maintenance projects, a local police update and a rundown of upcoming events.

The meeting will open with a public hearing on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. Information regarding the rating of the district will be provided at the hearing.

The meeting is open to the public, and will be held in the school district board room in the administrative office complex at 2707 Southside Dr., Brownwood.
