A weekend traffic accident in Brownwood resulted in the arrest of one of the drivers on a DWI charge.

Ray Ynostrosa, 62, of Brownwood, was booked into the Brown County Jail after the Saturday accident on a charge of DWI third or more, police and jail records state. His passenger, Terry Stewart, 50, of Brownwood, was arrested on a public intoxication charge, police and jail records state.

Officer Danny Hutchins was dispatched to a rear-end collision at the intersection of West Austin and Main at 12:06 p.m. Saturday, Hutchins’ report states. A 1996 Geo Tracker with four occupants was stopped at a red light when a 1988 Ford F-250, occupied by Ynostrosa and Stewart, hit the Geo from behind, Hutchins’ report states.

In other alcohol-related arrests, officer Anna Sturgeon arrested Gary Owens, 44, of Brownwood, on a charge of DWI second after a traffic stop.

Texas Parks and Wildlife officer Jarret Barker arrested Jennifer Diaz, 34, of May, on a charge of DWI third or more after a traffic stop.

In other incidents:

• Brownwood police arrested a man on warrants and arrested another person after he falsely told officers the wanted man wasn’t inside.

Police arrested Chris Fisher, 44, on charges of hindering apprehension and possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, police and jail records state.

Narcotics detective Bruce Spruill was watching a home in the 2100 block of Center after learning Billy Chancellor, 29, was staying there, Spruill’s report states.

Chancellor had warrants for engaging in organized crime and parole violation, jail records state. Officers went to the home after Spruill saw a man go inside. The man said Chancellor wasn’t inside and allowed officers to come in to look. Officers found Chancellor hiding in a bedroom, Spruill’s report states.

• Someone burglarized two coin-operated vending machines at America’s Best Value Inn, taking $200.

• A woman told police her wallet with $500 was taken from a cart at Wal-Mart.

• Someone took jewelry and $400 in change from a home in the 2300 block of Durham.
