Brownwood firefighters check out a portion of the fire departmentís new mobile fire trainer Thursday. The trainer, which consists of trailer about 45 feet long, will be used for a variety of training scenarios including setting fires and practicing putting them out, learning how fires behave and grow, learning to recognize flashover conditions, ventilation and search-and-rescue techniques. A federal grant paid 90 percent of the $152,000 cost. At right, firefighters on the roof of the mobile fire trainer look at a structure that resembles the roof of a house.
