Howard Payne University will host the "¡Sigues Tú!" retreat, a special event for Hispanic middle school students, on July 25 and July 26.
Registration for the event is $10 and will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at the Mabee University Center on the HPU campus.
The price includes meals, overnight accommodations, entertainment - including rock climbing, basketball and other activities at the HPU Outdoor Recreation Complex - and a T-shirt.
"¡Sigues Tú!" was created five years ago as a means of encouraging Hispanic students to stay in school and set goals about earning a college degree.
"¡Sigues Tú! is a great opportunity for HPU to reach out to the Hispanic students in our community," said Sergio Herbert, associate director of admission. "It is our desire at Howard Payne to actively help these students visualize a successful future. By allowing them to catch a glimpse of college life while in middle school, it is our hope that they will see that a college degree is attainable."
HPU Hispanic graduates have enjoyed considerable success following graduation in careers including ministry, banking, health care, marketing, education, coaching and social work.
