Sheriff’s officials arrested a man and seized 11 ounces of marijuana, a sawed-off shotgun and $350 after serving a search warrant Wednesday morning at a south Brownwood apartment.
Ruben Dillard, 26, remained in the Brown County Jail Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana over 4 ounces under 5 pounds and possession of a prohibited weapon, jail records state.
Deputies, assisted by Early police, entered the apartment at Southside Village Apartments and initially found loose marijuana on a coffee table, narcotics investigator Carlyle Gover said.
Deputies then found marijuana in hidden compartments in containers and in a safe, Gover said.
In an unrelated incident, Brownwood officer Kimberly Cantu was in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store at 1501 Coggin at 12:20 a.m. Thursday when someone approached.
“Hey, do you remember me?” the person asked. Cantu recognized him from an earlier traffic stop, and the two made small talk. He entered the store, walked to the coolers in the back and left the store.
Cantu noticed a bulge was in his pocket, which had been flat previously, and the top of a can of beer was visible. Cantu cited Nathan Perez, 18, for theft under $50, Cantu’s report states.
In another report, someone broke into an attached garage at an abandoned residence and took three weed eaters, two computers, two gas cans, a dishwasher and CD/tape player.
