Brownwood City Council members will consider awarding a $194,904 bid Tuesday to Big Country Waterworks of Brownwood for the purchase of materials for new water mains to complete the second phase of a water improvement project.

The bid is for materials only, with backfill and labor coming from the current budget.

The project is expected to be the final one of Texas Water Development Board Phase II money and is scheduled to begin in January at Ninth Street and Coggin Avenue.

Atmos will replace some utilities in the same areas in coordination with the city’s work schedule, and the city’s Street Department will repair or rebuild the streets in the area as necessary.
