A Brownwood man was arrested Tuesday after being accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old relative.

Calvin Eugene Williams, 37, was booked into the Brown County Jail on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and sexual assault of a child, jail records state.

Williams remained jailed Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Deputy Pete Bastardo was dispatched to a home in rural Brown County on Sept. 5, court documents state.

A man in the home said a relative was pregnant and was accusing him of having sexual contact with her.

Investigator Lana Guthrie followed up on the case. The girl told Guthrie the man had been having sexual contact with her since she was 7, court documents state.

Guthrie said the accusation was made when the girl was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center because she was ill, and it was discovered she was pregnant.

The suspect told authorities the girl was “aggressive,” court documents state.

The suspect failed a polygraph test on Sept. 14, then “made some admissions regarding sexual contact” with the girl, authorities alleged in court documents.

Guthrie said the suspect later called her and said he would pick up his paycheck at his Coleman job and come in to make a statement. The suspect didn’t show, Guthrie said.

Deputy Carlyle Gover received a tip that the suspect was in an Austin motel, and Austin police arrested the suspect at the request of Brown County authorities.

Deputy Valton Posey drove the suspect from Austin to the Brown County Jail, Guthrie said.
