Itís not the much-anticipated autumn chill, but a welcome spell of milder weather is forecast for the Brownwood area today and Tuesday, with as much as a 40 percent chance of showers tonight, the National Weather Service forecast Sunday.

After a streak of days which has seen high temperatures peak in the upper 90s to low 100s, a high in the mid-90s is forecast today, and the temperature may not reach 90 on Tuesday, the weather service office in San Angelo said.

The chance of thunderstorms will increase from 30 percent today to 40 percent tonight, and then fall back to 30 percent Tuesday night.

But highs will return to the upper 90s on Wednesday.
