Representative Jim Keffer has been appointed by Texas House Speaker Joe Straus to serve on the Executive Committee of the Energy Council.

“I appreciate the speaker granting me this special opportunity to give Texas a voice in the formulation of national and international energy policy,” Keffer said. “I look forward to exchanging ideas that will benefit our state.”

The Energy Council, which has 33 years of history as a legislative organization that focuses on energy policy, technology and alternative energy, has several members, including 11 energy-producing states in the U.S., five Canadian provinces and the nation of Venezuela.

“As a member of the Executive Committee, Chairman Keffer will facilitate cooperation and collaboration in the energy policy arena,” Straus said of Keffer’s appointment.

Keffer, who represents Brown, Eastland, Hood, Palo Pinto, Shackelford and Stephens counties in the Texas House, also serves as chairman of the House Energy Resources Committee.
