Brownwood police released the names of the three people who were shot one fatally early Saturday morning and the name of a man they are seeking on a murder warrant. All are Brownwood residents.

Police have not said what they believe led to the shootings, which happened around 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Avenue D.

A warrant for murder and two counts of aggravated assault has been issued against Stevie Ray Puente, 22, who fled the residence and remained at large Sunday night, Carroll said.

Sgt. Troy Carroll identified the man who was killed as Joseph Felkner, 34, who was dead at the scene with seven gunshot wounds.

Brandi Eckenrode, 20, was shot twice, and David McGary, 30, was shot three times, Carroll said. He said they are in stable condition at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Two people were arrested at the scene of the shooting and charged with tampering with evidence and hindering apprehension. Carroll identified them as Andrew Vasquez, 30, and Valerie Perez, 21.

Carroll said the people who were shot and another man went to the home around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Vasquez, Perez, Puente and a 3-month-old infant were at the home when the four arrived, Carroll said. An argument began, someone pulled a gun and the four left.

They returned around 2:30 a.m., and Felkner, McGary and Eckenrode walked toward the residence, Carroll said. Another man, Joseph Cadena, 19, remained in the car.

As the three approached the residence, multiple shots were fired from inside, Carroll said.

Neighbors called the police at 2:34 a.m. and reported shots had been fired, Carroll said.

He said police recovered a semi-automatic pistol from the scene.
