Howard Payne University will hold the December commencement for August and December graduates from the university today.

Ninety-five students will have degrees conferred upon them by Dr. Lanny Hall, president of HPU. Two students will be receiving associateís degrees, 92 students will receive bachelorís degrees, and one masterís degree will be awarded.

There will be two commencement services held at First Baptist Church, Brownwood at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Students graduating with a major from the School of Business, the School of Christian Studies, or the School of Education will walk at the 10 a.m. ceremony. Students graduating with a major from the School of Humanities, the School of Music and Fine Arts, or the School of Science and Mathematics will walk at the 2 p.m. ceremony.

Chime Out was held at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Phelps Bible Building. This is a traditional ceremony symbolizing the passing of authority, responsibility and privileges from the graduates to the underclassmen of the university.
