Brownwood High School
Students in grades 9 through 12 in Brownwood schools should report to the high school’s administration offices, now at their former location at the front of the campus, at the appropriate times during a three-day period, from Aug. 13 through 15. The first day of class will be Monday, Aug. 25.
Seniors will register from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Juniors will register from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14.
Sophomores will register from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15.
Freshmen and new students will register from 1 to 3 p.m. on either of those three days.
Orientation for freshmen and new students will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the high school auditorium. A tour of the campus, which has experienced considerable renovation over the summer, will also be offered. In addition, schedules for the fall semester will be available.
Registration for new elementary students entering the Brownwood Independent School District in the 2008—2009 school year will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. The first day of class will be Monday, Aug. 25.
Students in pre-kindergarten through third grade attending East or Northwest will enroll at their campus of residence - East Elementary, 2700 Vincent; and Northwest Elementary, 311 Bluffview Dr.
Students who will attend Woodland Heights Element-ary, 3900 Fourth St., will hold registration at Brownwood Middle School, 1600 Calvert Road, at the above times and date. Remodeling is under way at the Woodland Heights campus.
All fourth grade students will enroll at Coggin Elementary, 1105 Ave. B.
Fifth and sixth grade students will report to Brownwood Intermediate School at 800 Rogan.
Brownwood Middle School
New seventh and eighth grade students entering Brownwood Independent School District in the 2008—2009 school year will register from 8:30 a.m.— 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. Students will report to Brownwood Middle School, 1600 Calvert Rd.
All Brownwood schools
Students will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate, shot record, Social Security card and proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
Pre-kindergarten students qualify for school if they are 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2008; qualify for free/reduced lunch; if they have limited English proficiency; or if homeless. Proof of income will be required at registration for pre-kindergarten enrollment.
All students age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2008, are eligible for kindergarten.
The first day of class for students in the Brownwood ISD will be Monday, Aug. 25. For further information, call Luci McFadden at 643-5644.
Early High School
Early High School students will register on Aug. 12, 13 and 14. All registration will be held in the high school Student Activity Center. Students will be able to pick up schedules and parking assignments. Key Club members will be available to help ninth-graders and new students get acquainted with the high school campus. The registration schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, Aug. 12 - Seniors: 9 - 11 a.m.; Juniors: 1 - 3 p.m. Also, all dual credit classes may register on Aug. 12.
Wednesday, Aug. 13 - Sophomores: 9 - 11 a.m.; Freshman: 1 - 3 p.m. (Lockers will be assigned.)
Thursday, Aug. 14 - Registration for new students, only. New students must bring a copy of their birth certificate; original Social Security card; immunization record; official previous school transcript; and TAKS test results. New students should also bring proof of residence such as a utility bill or lease agreement.
Early Middle School
New student registration for Early Middle School students is scheduled for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 12-13 at the middle school. Students and/or their parents should bring the following documents to register: Birth certificate; Social Security card, proof of residency, shot records, report card, and driver’s license of the person who is enrolling the student. Students will need a letter from the EISD central office if transferring into the district from another school.
Sixth grade orientation will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 21, in the middle school gym. Students will receive their class schedule, locker and locker combination for the school year.
Seventh and eighth grade students will receive their class schedules on the first day of school.
Bangs ISD new student registration will run Aug. 11 - 15. All new students and their parents will need to report to their grade level campus for registration.
Bangs High School will host an open house for the public from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the high school.
Bangs Middle School will host an open house and fifth grade orientation from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Bangs High School will host an orientation on Thursday, Aug. 21. Freshman orientation will be from 9-10 a.m.; grades 10-12 will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Students will be able to pick up their schedules, tour the building and check out their lockers.
Bangs Elementary will host an open house from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22.
Registration for students in grades Pre-K through grade 8 in the Blanket Independent School District will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Registration for students in grades 9 through 12 will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14.
May Independent School District has announced that May Elementary School will offer half-day morning pre-kindergarten instruction for children who are 4 years old by Sept. 1. The class size will be limited and based on state qualifying standards on a first-come, first-served basis for remaining slots. Pre-kindergarten registration will be from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Free immunization clinic
A free back-to-school immunization clinic will be held at the Brownwood
/Brown County Health Department, 510 E. Lee, Brownwood, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 18-19.
