Miguel Hernandez, 22, also of Goldthwaite, was booked on a charge of possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, jail records state.
Deputy James Stroope was one of several deputies who responded to a call of a large fight at El Coulia on Highway 279 at 12:15 a.m., Stroope’s report states.
While en route deputies learned the people who had started the fight were driving toward Brownwood, and Stroope saw the vehicle in the 2000 block of Belle Plain.
Stroope saw that the vehicle had turned into the Food Plaza store and stopped at the gas pumps. Deputies removed the vehicle’s five occupants. A woman standing nearby told deputies she had just seen someone throw items, which proved to be methamphetamine, from the car.
The passenger who was alleged to have tossed the methamphetamine said the drugs had been in the parking lot and didn’t come from the vehicle. Deputies also found marijuana cigarettes in the vehicle, Stroope’s report states.
