Brownwood police arrested three juveniles and a 17-year-old in recent unrelated cases.

Officer Brandon Arnold was dispatched to West Commerce Wednesday night after someone recognized that the driver of a pickup was a runaway juvenile from Mullin, police Sgt. Troy Carroll said.

Arnold stopped the truck and found beer in the vehicle. When Arnold asked the 16-year-old boy if he had been drinking, the boy said he was “pretty messed up,” Carroll said.

Police learned from Mills County authorities that the vehicle had been taken from outside a Mullin residence, and beer had been taken in a burglary, Carroll said.

The boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and minor driving under the influence, and faces possible Mills County charges, Carroll said.

Chief Juvenile Probation Officer James R. Williams said the boy was being held at the county’s juvenile lockup Thursday afternoon.

Officer Aaron Taylor was dispatched to the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4:10 Wednesday morning on a report that someone was taking a license plate off a pickup.

Aaron saw the vehicle leaving and stopped it. The vehicle had three male occupants ages 17, 16 and 15, all from Comanche, and Taylor, assisted by Cpl. Mike Sheedy, began an investigation, Carroll said.

Police learned the pickup had been taken from a Comanche auto sales lot. Taylor searched the vehicle and found 79 keys taken from the auto lot, Carroll said.

The three are also suspected in a $97 gas drive-off in Comanche, Carroll said.

The 17-year-old, Mario Gonzalez, was booked into the Brown County Jail on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity and remained jailed in lieu of $40,000 bond, jail records state.

Williams said the juveniles face identical charges and have been released to their parents.
