Bulletin Staff Report

Brown County Commissioners will convene at 9 a.m. today to discuss, and possibly take action, on ways to enforce burn bans when they are ordered by county officials.

Bans on outdoor burning are declared by county commissioners when local conditions are deemed too dangerous to allow controlled brush burns or trash burning, and Brown County lifted a month-long ban on July 14. That move came after a series of rain showers, but itís been hot and dry since.

Commissioner Larry Traweek requested the item be put on the agenda.

In other business today, commissioners will consider bids for crushed rock, taken by Traweek; the hiring of an employee for records management presented by County Clerk Margaret Wood, and approval of a new employee presented by District Clerk Jan Brown.

Commissioners will also receive reports, consider payment of bills and approval of the treasurerís report.

A budget workshop is also planned.
