Girling Health Care Inc. has announced the appointment of Maryann Murphy, RN as new patient care manager in its Brownwood Home Health and Hospice office.
The announcement was made recently by Sue Hunter, regional manager for Girling Health Care and Hospice in Brownwood.
Murphy grew up in Somerville, Mass., and has wanted to be a nurse since the age of 5 after being hospitalized for an acute illness.
“My nurse was kind, compassionate, caring and I wanted to be like her,” Murphy said. “My sister graduated from nursing school when I started high school, and she always seemed to love her job and further influenced my desire to become a nurse.”
After graduating with honors from Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton, Mass., Murphy moved to Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia and then returned to Texas to live near family in Brownwood.
Her patient care background includes medical/surgical nursing with a focus on post-cardiothoracic surgery for two years. She worked emergency/trauma nursing for 10 years and has experience in pediatrics, school nursing and most recently in home health. Murphy says her goal at Girling is “to be proficient and compassionate in patient care. To give the patients the opportunity to achieve the highest quality of life they can at home.”
In her spare time, Murphy said she likes spending quality time with family and friends, especially her husband, Steve, and their four children.
Girling Home Health and Hospice offices are located at 1423 Coggin Ave.
