Brownwood Regional Airport Manager Sharlette Bain is working to spread the word about “what a nice airport we have.”

Bain, who has been the airport’s manager for nearly two years, is ramping up efforts to market the facility.

Those efforts include updating the airport’s Web page, which is linked to the City of Brownwood’s Web site, and working with the Chamber of Commerce to market the airport.

“I’m trying to get more interest in the airport and get people to realize we are here,” Bain said. “(The public) may know we’re here, but they may not know what we have.”

She said even people with no ties to aviation should be glad for the airport’s presence because it is an asset that helps bring commerce to the community.

About 56 planes are based at the airport, which has a staff of six including Bain. It is located five miles north of Brownwood off U.S. Highway 183.
